Human Library UK is a website owned and managed by the Outsiders on behalf of the Human Library Organisation. The site has been designed to provide everything you need to organise a Human Library event, and over time we hope to add to the resources available here.

The Outsiders are a Community Interest Company based in Norwich, Norfolk. We have organised over 70 Human Library events since 2008 in locations including Norwich, Liverpool, Birmingham, London, Leicester, and Glasgow, and in many smaller towns across Norfolk. All our Human Library activity is designed to further support the movement in the UK and we are currently working with secondary schools to develop a model of good practice that others can follow. The first stage of our pilot project will be published on this site soon. We are also currently exploring the potential for the Human Library to work in prisons.

We have developed this site in order to help new and existing Human Library Organisers deliver high-quality events that inspire social change and challenge prejudice and discrimination. The Human Library is one of the most inclusive, exciting and innovative work we have ever undertaken and as a result we are passionate and dedicated supporters of the Human Library movement, and the Human Library Organisation.

We have raised the money for this site through our commissioned work and at present we are not funded to provide any additional support to Organisers. However, in addition to developing this website we provide training and events for organisations to commission. We have delivered events or training for organisations including: Glasgow Life, Time to Change, Freebridge Housing, Flagship Housing, Circle Housing, Norfolk Constabulary, the University of East Anglia, the University of Essex, and Norfolk Library and Information Service. If you are interested in commissioning us to deliver training you can visit our website.
